GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Grace Academy Griffins made it clear there would be no upset on the Hill County senior night, bulldozing Hill County 52-6 in a regular-season finale.
Freshman running back Nathan Washington, filling in as the feature back with Elijah Heilig out due to injury, torched the state’s leading rusher and the Hill County defense for 183 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries — routinely bouncing runs outside and out-running pursuit angles for chunk gains of 40, 29, and 27 yards.
Coming into the game, Hill County’s senior tailback had led all of TAIAO in rushing yardage and was widely considered the most explosive back in the classification. On this night, he and the Wolve's offense managed -11 yards on the ground as a team. Grace defenders swarmed to the football all evening, repeatedly dropping the all-state candidate for loss and limiting Hill County to just 112 total yards.
Quarterback Bridger Maxwell was surgical in limited action, going 3-for-3 for 72 yards and two touchdowns — both on perfectly placed deep balls — while adding a 34-yard scamper for another score.
Senior receiver Brendin Tomlin hauled in a 43-yard touchdown among his two grabs for 60 yards. The Griffins scored on six of their seven offensive possessions and added another touchdown immediately after Hill County’s only points — a 75-yard kickoff return — showing no mercy in a 30-point second quarter that turned a close game into a rout.
Defensive standouts included defensive end Samuel Moore (8 tackles, sack, 3 TFL), Cole Campbell (6 tackles), and Maxwell himself (7 tackles, 2 TFL from his safety spot).
Key Stats – Grace Academy 52, Hill County 6

The win capped a 6-3 regular season for the Griffins and served as a loud statement heading into the postseason: even when the state’s top-ranked rusher lines up on the opposite sideline, Grace Academy’s defense travels — and so does a deep stable of playmakers on offense.
