Billed on Sixmanfootball.com as one of the four best games in the state to watch, the contest featured two very potent offenses. The Eagles came in ranked #54 while the Tribe had moved up to #15 in the rankings. The first half did not disappoint as the Warriors put up 46 points on six TDs and the Eagles 18 on three TDs. SFJ struggled all night with their ability to convert on extra points while Tribe's kicker Matthew McKnabb was 10 for 10 on the night adding 20 points.
Joshua McAlister led the charge with 224 yards and 6 TDs on 17 carries. Elijah Rendon added an additional 66 yards on 8 carries. Defensively, Rendon led the team with 8 tackles and played stellar all night in what was a bend don't break defense against arguably the best spreadback in all of TAIAO. While the Eagles were able to put up over 300 yards of offense, there 3 turnovers came at inopportune times and killed their momentum.
Was this the first round of what could be the Division II finals in December? Only time will tell. Next week the Tribe meets a familiar foe in WILCO as they travel having been at home for the past three weeks.
