Truth Social

I find it a tad ironic that there is a social media platform with the word "truth" in it. I simply do no find anything that man puts his hand to that will not be subverted by the Devil. Having been raised in a world where card catalogs were my search engine, it was often a slower and more deliberate process to ascertaining "the truth".

I see in young people today far more seekers of what is social than I do what is true. I am not advocating that my own generation was much better at discerning truth; however, we had far less white noise to parse.

So, why the concern about truths in the first place? Especially from a football coach! Like our Founding Fathers, I too believe that certain truths are self-evident and they are instrumental to success in this life, in athletics and most importantly in the afterlife.

Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light. George Washingon

The moral absolutes of the Bible and the truths found in American football reveal a surprising convergence. Both spheres advocate for principles such as integrity, respect, selflessness, and the inherent worth of individuals.

God gave us the rules by which we are to play the game of life. Likewise, there are rules which we must follow for us to win games and titles. As Chrsitians, we are called to love and support one’s neighbor. Likewise, you will not achieve your goals in sport without a love for those with whom you compete (especially the opposing team).

Perseverance, hard work, respect, integrity and many others are highlighted throughout the stories and passages in the Bible. God shows us through the scriptures what will lead to success and hopefully they become self-evident.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" Luke 6:31,

The Golden rule encapsulates the essence of reciprocal altruism. It promotes fairness and consideration, guiding individuals to act justly and empathetically. It is the Cliff Notes (do people even read these anymore?) version of moral absolute outlined in the bible. If you want the detailed version start with the Ten Commandments and work your way through to Revelations!

My father when he heard that I was choosing Political Science for my major simply suggested that I take more science and less politics (which was sage advice). What I trumpet to the athletes on our teams is that they should focus more on truth and less on social.
