In six-man football, where the field's a vast expanse with just six players per side and no double-team safety nets, tackling isn't optional—it's the difference between a highlight-reel stop and a 60-yard sprint to the end zone. And with flag now entrenched through the 8th grade in many school districts, these muscle memories are digging in deep. It's like teaching a kid to swim with floaties for years, then tossing them in the deep end and expecting Olympic form. The result? For bigger programs—think 11-man juggernauts with deep rosters—this is an annoyance they can coach out over a couple of off-seasons. Freshmen and sophomores sit, learn, and marinate. But in six-man? Injuries? Sure, they happen, but the risk is lower than you'd think because the hits are softer, the speeds slower, and everyone's roughly on the same page developmentally.
