Bastrop Tribe Consolidated resumed its winning form, thrashing Northside Sports Association 56-6 in a six-man contest at Conroe on Friday.

The Warriors (2-1) had lost to Calvert 32-28 a week earlier, only their third loss in the past three seasons.

The contest against Northside was stopped at halftime because of the 45-point mercy rule.

Samuel Osborn led Tribe with 210 yards rushing on 15 carries and scored on runs of 16, 1, 15 and 5 yards. He also returned a kickoff 43 yards for another touchdown.

Tribe coach Brent Golemon said he had only 14 players at his disposal because the junior varsity had a contest on Saturday. The Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations allows an athlete to play five quarters at any level a week.

“We played a number of folks at different positions, including Osborn at quarterback instead of running back,” Golemon said in an email.

Rio Mata scored on a five-yard run in the second quarter for Tribe, ranked No. 13 among all six-man teams in Texas.

Travis Guy scored on a safety.

Hansen Collie caught a 45-yard pass for a touchdown from quarterback Chandler Golemon. Golemon completed two of three passes for 65 yards.

Tribe limited Northside (1-1) to minus 16 yards rushing and 111 total yards.

The Warriors compete on the road for the fourth consecutive game at Williamson County Home School (3-0) on Friday.

“Wilco has been very consistent this season,” Golemon said. “They have a stable of quarterbacks and receivers.”

Matthew Collard and Donnie Smith have thrown six and three touchdowns, respectively. Neither has thrown an interception. Smith is the top rusher with 104 yards. Six receivers have caught touchdown passes.

“They do a good job of protecting the quarterbacks,” Golemon said. “Our games through the years have been competitive.”

Tribe beat Wilco 62-16 last season.

Tribe visits Williamson County Homeschool (3-0) at Leander on Friday.
